This was a cool little spot to work in nature and great for kids and elderly. The staff was so friendly. The train ride is something that you must do. A 20 minute ride , they have air-conditioned cars with very comfortable seats and ceiling fans. If you like the openess they have those cars as well. ( great for picture taking) The views were wonderful..but I am a Nature Person. They also have peddle bikes that you can peddle on the tracks! I had a blast! The conductor Larry let me go to engine and blow the horn.. Loads.. of fun!
10 outta 10 recommend! We took part of the super soaker offer and it was so much fun. The views were amazing and the staff was great! My son was allowed to blow the whistle which he thoroughly enjoyed. We will for sure visit the east coast locations.
Checked out Hours and website before visiting, and it looked good so I decided to check out on a Thursday after lunch. No one was present, not even another visitor. I tried calling but no one answered the phone and their voicemail was full. Disappointed but looked around anyway. I recommend they edit their hours to reflect only open on weekends since what they advertise for their rail car and train rides.
I come from a railroad family so the fact that having a railroad museum right in my backyard was so exciting. Excitement quickly turned into disappointment. The train ride was fun, but the museum was a let down. It takes more than a gift shop and a snack shop to make a museum. The only cars you can actually climb in and see is a mail car and a caboose. And not much to see at that. The only other attraction was a model train display, which was closed. No one was there giving history or origins of the rail line, or locomotives. Nevada, especially Boulder City is rich in history and the fact that this attraction is just down the road from Hoover Dam, literally, and know one was there to walk you through history was just sad. That said, I understand it is all volunteer staffed and driven, but that is no excuse for what I saw, or should I say, did not see. Thankfully I did not pay for the alleged museum portion of my visit.
We took our son here for his 7th birthday. He loves trains. We were there early to ensure we'd be able to get tickets for the train ride. The staff was very welcoming! I loved how friendly they all were! There's a small gift shop where my son picked out a couple of train toys. All my kids had fun. Thank you so much to all the staff for making it memorable!
