As a family member of a patient, my experiences are as follows. The positives are for the numerous staff members who, if at any point during my visits I appeared to be in search of directions, someone immediately stopped and asked if I needed assistance. Numerous staff also just take the time to simply greet you in passing. For those caring for my family member, I truly appreciate your time and kindness. To that I give credit and if that were my only interaction, I would give 5 stars. 7th tower: For the seemingly impatient and blatantly rude lady who visits rooms from Dietary, an attitude adjustment is definitely in order. The worst, most frustrating part of having a patient in this hospital, which in itself appears in need of major room updates or a rebuild, is the parking situation. Rather, lack of parking. There's nothing innovative about the parking design or flow. Actually, it's more like someone with no engineering or design experience just threw together a bad drawing and ran with it. Two-way, one vehicle at a time lane? Why? Wasted space. Many areas of wasted space. Visitor parking which is actually being overrun by employees instead. An entire parking structure dedicated to employees and are most preferring not to use it? Who wants to come to a hospital where you have family or as a patient, drive around for an hour or more and not get parking? People parking in the aisles, just waiting. Three vehicles parked in spaces for two. It's beyond ridiculous. It's a hazard. After all these years, you would think that a better system would have developed. I would give 1 star on this account.
Yesterday we arrived at the ER and 35 hours later we are still here some of the people are helping but more people are not helping than the ones that are it’s funny they keep saying they don’t have a bed upstairs so we have been here in MED 11 all this time she checked in Saturday at about 2:30pm and now it’s 8:48 pm Sunday and we are still sitting here the night nurse brought her a regular hospital bed Thank a million but other than that this is a joke I ask her to come her because they normally find out what’s wrong they told us the problem but still no Rooms available, next time we will go to Mountain View even though they are slow they will have a bed for her to be in , I’ve been dealing with people in the medical field since 2005 and I have come to realize that most hospitals Dr office , and any other medical office's are ran strictly by the nurses not by the Doctor’s not by upper management so the Nurses do as they please and no one does any thing to fix the problems and it keeps going on an on until someone dies and then the medical staff lies and gets out of it , This hospital at one time was the best place to come to back when I first moved here 30 years ago
Bad service. This hospital needs more nurses and doctors etc. that actually cares about people in need of medical care. The wait in the ER is ridiculous and they seem to not care how long you are waiting to be seen because they’re either sitting pretending to work or walking around like they’re busy and you could still be sitting waiting for hours. I wouldn’t recommend coming to this place at all. There is nothing decent at this hospital just a front they put up to make them look good but I’ve witnessed so many complaints already and it’s just sad! Please do Better UMC. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hospital!
While hospitalized for a suicide attempt, I was searched several times like a criminal and every time they "found something" it was always nothing. Doctor Shaw (Or however you spell the name) was condescending to me and my family and just gave up and walked away after we tried explaining I was not insured. Got switched around between 3-4 doctors before I was released after nobody could decide what to do with me (also after only 2 days). It really makes me wish I did it rather than suffer through this hospital. Thanks for nothing. However, the food was pretty good.
After all the horror stories, I've heard about UMC, I was scared to there. But after a closed head injury ( my cat tripped me, and I had a huge goose egg on the back of my head). My husband took me. I was seen quickly,. Because,it was a head injury, either a nurse, or employee called my name every hour. I personally, found the staff, from the security guard to the final P.A, to be helpful. And kind. I was grateful for the entire staff. My only complaint was the waiting room was very small. Thank you for the drsand nurse. The entire staff that helped me. And yes, I was there, for over 7 hours.
